UNO Men's Basketball Foreign Tour

The University of New Orleans Privateer Basketball team will embark on a incredible trip August 7-15.  The team will travel to Panama and Costa Rica as a part of a goodwill tour that will include 4 exhibition basketball games, three service projects, educational tours, and sight seeing.  It has been well over a decade since the Privateers have had the opportunity to leave the US and represent the University and city. During the time in Costa Rica the Privateers will have the opportunity to connect and complete a service project in San Ramon.  The University of New Orleans has had long standing study abroad program based in San Ramon through it's renowned International Office.  Coach Mark Slessinger said, "This will be an incredible opportunity to connect back and thank so many in San Ramon who have helped with hosting and helping to facilitate this great program."

The team will also provide a basketball clinic for Special Olympics while on the trip.  The Privateers and Special Olympics have had a great relationship since Coach Slessinger's first days on the Lakefront.  Over the past six seasons they have helped facilitate 15 clinics for area athletes.  "Being able to continue our work with Special Olympics on this trip will be a highlight.  So many of the incredible athletes we have watched grow up and improve along with our teams over the past six years.  This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our group," Slessinger stated.  Last year alone the Privateers gave back over 500 hours of service back to New Orleans and our surrounding communities.

The team has raised a great majority of the funds to help make this trip a reality.  The need your help to put it over the top.  Please consider making a donation and paying it forward to help the Privateers continue to progress and give back.
