Dr. Fritz Dohse, founding Dean of the College of Engineering recently passed away. Click here to read UNO's memorial tribute.
He performed a critical role in designing the bachelor's degree program in engineering sciences which was offered for the first time in 1965, and over the course of 24 years saw the program grow to become a fully accredited College of Engineering in 1980. Without his leadership the College of Engineering and the degree programs currently offered would not exist today.
Each program carries a high degree of prestige within the engineering community thanks to Dr. Dohse's commitment to his students and UNO.
Dr. Dohse was a driving force in helping UNO secure the funding to build the College of Engineering building which opened in 1987. In recognition of his dedication and vision, the University is naming the Auditorium inside this very building, in his honor.
The University of New Orleans and the College of Engineering is vital to the success of the City of New Orleans, the greater metropolitan region and beyond.
To continue Dr. Dohse's vision for the College of Engineering, we ask that you give to Dr. Dohse's, Founding Dean's Award scholarship. This endowment scholarship supports students pursuing a degree in engineering.
Currently, this scholarship endowment is about $24,000 and with your support, let's bring this endowment scholarship above $30,000 and meet Dr. Nicklow's (UNO's President) challenge of raising at least $10,000 in tribute of Dr, Dohse.
Thank you to our donors who gave over $4,000 in tribute to Dr. Dohse during UNO's inaugural Give UNO Day.
Please show your gratitude for Dr. Dohse's leadership by making a gift to help honor his fabulous commitment to UNO and the College of Engineering.
